Our Core Values

Spiritual Growth

At the core of each of our members, we should be growing in our spiritual walk with Christ. Regardless of how long you stay at WHVBC, regardless of who is in leadership, regardless of any other external circumstances, individually we are responsible to God for growing our relationship with Him.

Biblical Teaching

We believe that growing in the fullness of Christ is directly tied to our understanding of God’s inerrant Word. As it is the inspired Word of God, it acts as our guide, our authority, our standard, and our conviction on how we grow to live Christ-like lives.

Excellence

We honor God by giving Him our best. God deserves nothing less and that should be what we aim for to honor Him. We know we cannot be perfect, but we should not settle for anything less than our best efforts in every aspect of our lives.

Service

We want to be a church that serves sacrificially. It may be helping to build shelters to volunteering in our community to simply picking up the trash, we want to be a church that uses our abilities to help those around us. God has called the church not to be served, but to serve and show God's love.

Evangelism

As followers of Christ, we are called to tell the world about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our aim is to not only live lives that reflect the change that Jesus had made within us, but to also tell unbelievers of how Jesus Christ can do the very same thing for them as well.

Discipleship

We grow disciples who go out and make disciples. When one comes to know Jesus as their savior, it is important that more seasoned Christians come alongside them and show them what their new life in Christ should look like. We are by no means perfect examples ourselves but continue to show how Jesus uses our imperfections for His glory. In time, the new Christian becomes the seasoned Christian coming alongside another new follower of Christ.

Community

Belonging to a community of believers is what we desire for all our members. Community is where we as broken people encourage, build up, and hold one another accountable to making our lives more like Christ. It is here through the Holy Spirit and in biblical teaching that growth takes place.

Authenticity

In all things we do, we want to be honest, transparent, and open about who we are. Service is hollow if it is not honest. Community is weak if we are not transparent. And evangelism is forced if we are not open about who we are.
